Some of the photographs that reach deepest are the ones given to the beginning of a new life: a path that changes your own human dimension for good.
It takes a particular sensitivity to catch, discreetly, the unrepeatable moments of her waiting and the astonished, disbelieving looks of his. It is the same way of standing aside with which I photograph a wedding: I do not interrupt, I do not direct, I wait.
And then the wonder: the new creature just brought into the world. An actor unaware of the part they are playing, and for that very reason able to hold us spellbound. In the most beautiful film there is.
