The pictures that stay.

I work as a documentary photographer: I stay inside the day and photograph it as it happens. No lined-up groups, no looking into the camera on request, no scenes done a second time because the first wasn’t framed well. What you see here really happened, and it happened like this.

I care about the soul and the personality of the people I photograph more than about any pose I could put them in. That is why my work begins before the wedding, in conversation: knowing who you are is the only way to recognise, on the day itself, the moment that is truly yours.

The same care goes into post-production. Full colour where the day had it, black and white where colour added nothing — never a fashionable filter, which in ten years dates a photograph instead of telling its story.
