The wedding at Villa Godi Malinverni

Villa Godi Malinverni · Lugo di Vicenza · Vicenza

Villa Godi Malinverni is Andrea Palladio’s first villa: built between 1540 and 1542 in Lugo di Vicenza, at the foot of the Asiago plateau, it appears in his Four Books of Architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, together with the other Palladian villas of the Veneto. Its halls are frescoed by Giovanni Battista Zelotti, Battista del Moro and Gualtiero Padovano.

Photographing a wedding here means working inside a work of art without turning it into a backdrop. The frescoes ask for soft light and an unhurried pace; the loggia and the garden, on the other hand, open onto the Vicenza countryside, and that is where the day catches its breath.

I had already told the story of Melissa and Fabrizio’s wedding at Villa Godi Malinverni; this gallery is Giorgia and Alberto’s, in 121 photographs. The same day also has its film, on the films page.
